Travertino or Travertine is frequently used as wall decorative stone tile. It is a kind of limestone formed near hot spring with many holes. We fancy that the boiling spring water makes the holes in travertine like sponge, but of cause it is not.
Travertino is very popular in Hong Kong. It is often white, pale beige, creamy warm in color with horizontal veining and even color shade. AND it is very price competitive. Travertino mainly mine in Turkey and Iran or Iraq.
The problem is Travertino containing so many holes. Many designer requests to fill them with resin or epoxy. But hey, any job that is UNFILLED? Unfilled Travertino gives you a more tropical resort style and raw feeling. Also it is very sound absorptive, it is good to use in heavily traffic place creating quiet atmosphere like hotel lobby, restaurant or bar.
